This article looks deep into the beginning years of Washington Irving’s life. It also looks at the short story “Rip Van Winkle” and how it relates to the American people. It states how Rip lives as a very lazy laid back man and awakes to a busy fast paced society. He leaves for the mountains as a child and is able to skip not just adulthood but the things that come with it.
