Apple Ipods still the major leader in electronics

Thinks about it, Ipods have come a long way from when cd players and casette player where around. The only problem that occured with these other gadgets was that they could not hold how many songs you wanted. You were forced to carry around a bundle of CDs. Now though as time progressed Ipods begame a big hit and are offered in a variety of different models. From the smallest ipod which is the shuffle which comes in a 1G and now 2G. To the newest most recent Ipod which is also a smart phone. The Iphone which has less storage capacity, still doesnt matter because you get the best of two gadgets a great phone and of course you ipod. response to Mr. bennetts post about windows long horn

After reading Charlies blog about the new operating system windows long horn and doing some follow up research i have some doubts. Like windows vista, there is going to be many new updates.  I am not a fan of vista, and preferr Windows XP.  I feel that there are no big improvements worth upgrading, and everything is fine with XP.  Longhorns production was supposed to be released back in 2007, and since it is 2008 I feel that there are already set backs, so that is not looking good for the final release.   I predict that there will be many bugs and patches having to be made to correct these problems.

Vista SP1 Sleep Mode Problem

As we discussed in class many people have experienced some problems or just dislike windows vista. Doing some follow up research on Windows Vista I found that we are not alone. Many people are wakeing up and having problems after installing Windows Vista Service Pack. They experienced their PCs crashing when attempting to wake their computer from sleep mode. This is a major problem because many people use sleep mode when the go to sleep or go out for the day. To read more about this problem or other Windows Vista problems visit click here.

Microsoft fixes massive site, service log-in glitch

On Tuesday, Microsoft announced that they had fixed the problem of logging on to its online services throughout the day. On the other hand, they cannot explain what the problem is with logging into Hotmail, Xbox Live, and messenger. As of this morning, customers were still complaing that they could not sign in to their accounts.

This is not the first time that multiple Microsoft services have been crippled at the same time. A year ago, Live Messenger, Live Mail and other sites and services were inaccessible to users for part of a day. Last April, Live Mail and Messenger also went dark for several hours. In neither incident did Microsoft reveal the underlying cause.

Muglia, the head of theMicrosoft service group, said that Windows Server 2008 did not have a “live” element of its own, then continued on to note that the OS powered an unspecified number of Microsoft’s sites and online services. “The biggest ‘live’ component is the fact that Windows Live runs on Windows Server,” he said. “Microsoft.com is running entirely on Windows Server 2008 right now.”

Today, in Los Angeles Microsoft is going to launch their Windows Server 2008. However, Microsoft is denying that the problem yesterday and today has anything to do with the new server software. Then again we dont know if the Windows Server 2008 was even being used.

New Windows Server Boss: ‘Longhorn’ On Schedule

This article talks about how the new windows operating system that we talked about in class is on schedule for its release date.  “Microsoft  announced yesterday that it has a new server chief. Bill Laing, an eight-year Microsoft veteran and a native of Scotland, takes over the job of general manager of the Windows Server Division, which was vacated last fall by Bob Muglia when he accepted a promotion to senior vice president of the Server and Tools Business. In his first public statement as the new Windows server chief, Laing said Windows Server “Longhorn” is still on track for delivery in 2007.”  since it is already 2008, there must have been some flaws found to prevent it just slightly.  many people do not like Vista and other system upgrades which change the interface, but i am interested to see how they will keep one-upping themselves from the previous edition.  for the full article please Click Here

The new technology on cars is unbelievable. I had no idea cars were changing at such a rapid pace. What Caitlin said was true it’s going to get highly expensive. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

New Car Tech Advancements(really cool)

This article consists of new possibilities of cars that I thought could never be possible. Economy mode for cars that automatically conserve energy by controls on the A.C. Planes will be able to record events of the flight, times, and destinations of the day. There are cars that can park for you so parallel parking in tight spaces remains effortless. Cars can also use the GPS automatically and literally drive for you! Detection of car accidents will be available and warn drivers of the potential crash. All of these advancements are crazy and very useful, probably highly expensive tho. : /

Technology Advanced T-shirts

Instead of prints on T-shirts, there is talk of videos and slide shows and other types of media on shirts. “Wearable Resistance” is a dress with LCD text images that scroll. “The Hug Shirt” offers hugs by the use of sensors to create the strength, heart-beat and warmth of another body. Another type of shirt, which I think is almost creepy, can track your exact location and relay the information to a computer within a social networking site. I personally wouldn’t wear any of these clothing items but I do find it pretty interesting and a possible advancement for business advertisements.

iPhone Developmental Kit

Ever since the release of the iPhone last year in June, many software companies have been working hard creating unofficial developmental kits for the phone. Finally in October the Apple CEO announced that the official developmental kit would be released in February. According to this this would grant third party to create applications that would run directly with the phone and iTouch. For more information and also updated click on this link.
