lab top stollen, info. stolen

A lab top was stolen that had 268,000 Minnesota-region blood donors information on it. It was taken from The Memorial Blood Center. “The lab top was taken at 7 a.m. Nov. 28 as workers were setting up a blood drive, said Laura Kaplan, manager of marketing and communications with the blood center. “They were setting up for a blood drive and this was in a briefcase,” she said. “The police have told us they believe it was a random crime.”"(yahoo.com) Just another example of how storing so much information that is personal in one place like a laptop or a storage devise is convenient, but also very risky.

iphone wanna bees? or good buys?

After the releasable Apple’s iPhone on the At&t network it was obvious other company’s would copy the technology. With its innovative touch screen interface, and its flexibility as an mp3 player, camera, phone and basically a pda capability’s it was hard to match. Yet Sprint released its HTC Touch and verison their new Voyager. Though these phones are cheaper, and make getting a smart phone on a different network possible, i would not expect to see them flying off the shelves.

bad Santa, bad

So i found this article in the New York Times that is about an A.I. error from Microsoft in there messaging service. They created a Santa Clause bot, which made lewd comments to a 13 year old girl after she asked it if he like pizza. Well apparently santa doesnt like pizza to much, after the phrase the girls used was tested multiple times, santa kept giving out the same lude response. I look into this for a while but i can not find out what this response was. But it was enough for micrsoft to deleate santa from their messaging serves.

What would be in an Apple iCar?

This article discusses the possibility of Apple and Volswagon merging to make the iCar. Forget about mechanical controls, such as steering wheels, shifters, and pedals. You control the iCar with touch surfaces and gestures. When you want to turn right, drag your finger across the dashboard-mounted touch screen toward the right. If you want to speed up, drag your finger forward on the touch screen. There is one mechanical control — a switch mounted unobtrusively under the dashboard to turn the car on or off. I think this could be pretty cool and it would sell to just because the word car has and “i” in front of it. “It makes me want to live in an iWorld. Imagine waking up in an iBed, taking your iCar to work, doing your iJob all day, then having a couple of iBeers at the end of the day.” This article can be found at http://www.cnet.com.au/software/0,239025597,339282907,00.htm

Teaching plasma to follow LCD’s lead

This article discusses how the plasma TVs are trying to get like the LCDs. I personally like the LCDs better because they are bigger and they are especially better for gamers. The plasma are also pretty decent. I work in the electronics department at Sears and sell these TVs and I pretty much know the differences. LCD is so far the undisputed champion of the HDTV popularity contest, and much of it has to do with price and manufacturers’ ability to scale the technology to increasingly larger screen sizes. Besides lower price, one of the traditional benefits of LCD over plasma is the brightness of the picture in a well-lighted environment. And though all TVs can be energy hogs, plasma sets are notorious for their high power consumption. Which kind of TV would you purchase? cell phones and cancer?

thats right, another reason to be afraid.” A study led by Dr. Siegal Sadetzki, an oncologist at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan, Israel, found a nearly 50 percent increase in the risk of tumors of the parotid gland, a salivary gland found slightly ahead of each ear.” (foxnews.com). Great, another reason for people to be afraid? well not really, using cell phones does not garentee cancer, it increases the chances for people who genetically, are at risk. Crazy stuff, get the details here.
