lab top stollen, info. stolen
A lab top was stolen that had 268,000 Minnesota-region blood donors information on it. It was taken from The Memorial Blood Center. “The lab top was taken at 7 a.m. Nov. 28 as workers were setting up a blood drive, said Laura Kaplan, manager of marketing and communications with the blood center. “They were setting up for a blood drive and this was in a briefcase,” she said. “The police have told us they believe it was a random crime.”"(yahoo.com) Just another example of how storing so much information that is personal in one place like a laptop or a storage devise is convenient, but also very risky.
This is just so disturbing to me. Why someone would steal a computer from a blood drive is absurd. These people are out doing a good deed, and one person (maybe even more) have to ruin a good thing. Absolutely ridiculous. And it is true, having so much valuable information on a computer is definitely a risk.
