Since my initial visit nothing really has changed other then the kids are getting more use to us being there. The thing that i enjoy most about the Boys and Girls Club is being able to help the kids do their homework and then play games with them. If i were able to do something else there I think it would help fix up the actual building. The building is really old and run down and needs some work. I don’t think i can do anything to fix it unless we were to raise money. I do not feel any stress when I am there, I actually forget about my own stress about school when I am there. One of my most memorable moment is when I was in charge of 20 kids and we had to clean parking lot outside. All the kids wanted to help and wanted to plant flowers to make it look pretty.

not much has changed since my first visit. i just feel more comfortable being there and being around the kids. what i enjoy most is watching the children interact with each other, it can be entertaining sometimes. there isnt really anything i would change. i dont feel stress but i get nervous with the kids sometimes. i never know if they should always be doing what they do, and sometimes i feel weird yelling at them when they need it. the most memorable time is probably when they play their favorite game carpet ball. they get so competitive!

Nothing really changed since my initial visit execept the fact that i’m now helping out with more things, the kids and the workers know me better now, and i help out alot in art. I enjoy helping out in art the most and I wish that I could get to switch it up and do different things in every once in a while. I would like to change the building and make it bigger, but we really can’t do this without their permission and, most importantly, money. I don’t feel any stress when i’m there; if anything the kids help me to relieve stress because they’re very fun to be around, and being around them sort of brings me back to my childhood. My most memorable moment at the site so far was when I was helping out in art and I got to help the kids make collages, and then eventually made my own.

My job has changed from the beginning. I started out serving water but now I am serving the food. I like the people I work with the most. They are funny and entertaining. I’d like to ask them more questions about what they did to get in their situation but its awkward. The only stress is, making the trip to atlantic city. Killin my gas, im not made of money. I just get over it, and when its over , ill get a job to make it back. Most memorable moment so far was when i was beating the eggs and one of the guys said i was doing it too soft, and compared it to sex and to get rough hahaha. so funny.

Nothing has really changed from the intial visit besisdes that I am used to going and I’m not nervous. I love helping and playing with the kids, they are really funny. I wouldn’t want to change anything, I like what I’m doing and I like the kids. Sometimes I feel stressed not because of the kids or going there but if I have alot of homework or an exam the next day I get a little stressed. But once I get there and start talking to the kids I forget about it, they help me relax. My most memorable moment is when I wrote one girl’s name in bubble letters and all of the kids went crazy over it! They wanted me to make their names in bubble letters, and some of them wanted me to make ones for family and friends. At one point there had to be 10 kids asking me at once to make their name!

Ever since my first visit to the boys and girls club, I actually enjoy and look forward to go to the club to see the kids. The most I enjoy about the project is being a positive role model for many of the younger females, most of them do not have this in thier everday lives and it saddens me to hear, young females saying they want to be in Lil’ Wayne’s next video. Besides volunteering at the BGC of Atlantic City, I would also like to start a program for young females, where they can come and discuss their problems or outlook on life, especially being a girl growing up in the city. The only thing I wish I could change would be the organization of the club, I personally don’t know how to change this, maybe I could get Ms. Nina an organizer. The only thing I find stressful is how the kids think and their outlook on life, I know their still young but it kinda disturbes me when I hear an eight year old boy say he’s going to end up in jail like his father. Or when a girl told me I better have kids soon because I’m getting old. (I haven’t even turned 19 yet!!!) The only way to unwind is to talk to my mom about the sistuation, considering she grew up in the city of Baltimore MD, but is still successfull, I think there is still hope for some of them. My most memorable event at the site would be when I was playing carpet ball with Miguel (5 years old), and he looked up at me and said “I wish my mommy was like you”

From my first visit the other workers in the kitchen and I have grown closer togrether. I enjoy being able to have fun with the other workers and server food at the same time. I would like to have a greater role in preparing the food and kitchen for the meal. I would like to change the amount of people we serve. it is sad to know how many homeless people can live in one city, although I probably only see a portion of the homeless people. I realize I really can’t change how many homeless people there are, but it hurts to see not only the same people struggling, but new ones everytime. I do not feel any stress from this engagment. If I do feel anystress, than I just try to talk with my co workers in the kitchen to relieve it. So far my most memerable moment has been when my director and I celebrated that Obama was elected president. It was fun because the rest of the kitchen join in our celebrating.

Everytime that i go to contant is seems to get easier and easier. What i enjoy the most about the project is getting to know these people. They actually appreciate this service so much and really want to get to know you. If there was one thing I could change it would be the distance it was the only thing that really bothered me since it was sooo far away. I dont think i would be able to change this because that is the only office center that they have. The really only thing that stressed me out was the distance because i always had to worry about time and traffic, and i really couldnt even be a few minutes late since the calls had to be on a timed schedule. I unwind by just trying to leave 10 to 5 mintues earlier so that i dont have to rush and can get there withour having road rage.
My most memorable moment was when i was doing one of my calls and asked for the woman that was on the list and it was her son that answered the phone. He said that she could not get to the phone because she was very ill, and that she really enjoyed this service. He thanked me for everything we have done but we should take her off the list because she wasnt going to make it past this week. I left him with my prayers for her since that was all I could do. This really touched me because by doing this service you really do effect peoples lives and by hearing him say that to me it really was able to open my eyes.

since my last visit im getting more comfortable around the kids. they like coming up to me and asking me questions.the kids are getting used to me and can trust me if they need me. i befriended a little girl. she always has a big smile on her face whenever she sees me. i feel like a big sister when im there. they call her boogie because she has a tendency to pick her nose whenever she feels like it but i always tell her to wash her hands and tell her to stop doing that in front people because its nasty. some volunteers and i have been putting together craft projects for the kids and they really enjoyed it. if i need help with anything the kids are always there. they always ask me for help on there hw. i like being there because i feel like im making an impact on someones life especially a childs life. i would never choose another place then here.

Something that has changed the most since my initial visit is that there are lest groups ran on the weekend, than on the weekday. I enjoy the groups that we run and the smiles they have on their face. I don’t have any stress while I’m there, I actually relieve any issues I have there because I am comfortable enough to talk about my issues. My most memorable moment was when the juveniles and I were having a group while sharing some one started to cry about not being home with his son and family during thanksgiving.

Not much has changed with any of my visits except Mr. Lakew seems to like my work. The only part I kinda like is sitting in a chair selling books online because theres a bunch of people in the computer lab that I’m in so I’m not alone even though there all doing different things. I wish O could interact with more people but thats up to Mr. Lakew. This placement isn’t stressful at all and its not hard either its just boring so i just bring my ipod and listen to music. The most memorable moment I had doing this was the first day I met Mr. Lakew because it was a bad first impression.

Not much has changed so far, its mainly everyone disscussing what to do. I like the helping the environment part, but i woukd like to get more than one or two hours done a week. This is ofcourse out of my control and it does give me alittle stress but i unwind by relaxing playing Kingdom Hearts in my room. The one thing i will remember the most is that when i needed time, they helped me get time.
