Imagine being alone, feeling worthless and afraid at a refugee camp. You are a sudanese woman, living without food to feed your family. Your husband has left you, because you have been raped by the janjaweed, and he feels that you are not worth anything. Would this scenario be different if we were in America?

In The United States of America is by far the most powerful country in the world. Sudan is a country that is proverty stricken. The janjaweed, also known as the devil on horseback, pillage and rape non-arab, sudanese women. In America women are raped for different reasons. Woman are primarly raped by men for pleasure, harm, or out of psychological issues. Rape occurs in both of these countries and seldom is much done about it, but in the US the targeting of women in this manner would not be tolertated,

Your essay is off to a god start. You have a nice transition between the first two paragraphs. I feel that if you get rid of the last sentence in the first paragraph, you might be able to combine the paragraphs as one intro, but it still works well as two paragraphs. Good job.

    My Essay

Imagine you were forced to flee from your country in order to live. After traveling hundreds of miles you arrive at a small refugee camp, cramp in with thousands of other refugees. Everyday little amounts of supplies from foreign nations arrive, but it is not enough to live. Also, the supplies do nothing to protect you against further attacks from your oppressive government. This refugee camp is barely better than the genocide you escaped. Most governments in the developed world, primarily the west vows to end genocide. However, it is easier for governments to send aid to refugees rather than commit troops. A long as they are helping in some way, governments do not feel guilty about the continuing genocide. Governments, especially the United States, need to take greater action on genocide, specifically Darfur in Sudan. Government prevention of genocide in Darfur has proven almost useless. To really stop genocide in Darfur greater measures must be taken.
To get an idea of what is going on; here is a quick overview of the genocide in Darfur. In 2003, the Sudanese government began attacking all non Arab people in Darfur. Sudan used hired special forces, almost like mercenaries, called the Janjaweed to attack its citizens in Darfur. After Sudanese plains bomb villages, the Janjaweed would rush in killing as many people as possible. Men would be killed instantly, women raped, and young children would be taken away. Those who survived would be forced to flee to neighboring Chad and live in refugee camps; many would not be able to make it to the camps. In the camps the refugees live a terrible life. Water and food are scarce. It is a breeding ground for disease. People are not safe in the camps. The Janjaweed often attack those who wander off to get fire wood. African Union troops try to protect the people, but they do not have the resources to do so. Up to this point 400,000 people have died in Darfur, and many have been displaced, without any hope of ever going home. Darfur has been officially recognized as a genocide spot. Now the question is, what has the rest of the world been doing about this?

The Janjaweed are the most merciless people in the universe. The reason why these devils on horseback are so merciless in there killing of men and the raping of woman is because the government has put their criminals on payrolls to go out and kill the non-Arab people. So all those murders and insane rapist are given guns and machetes, and told to go out to make the non Arabic people’s life so bad that they rather be dead. The Janjaweed don’t just go and kill these people they torture every last piece of life out of them, by burning people, cutting of body parts, poisoning water supplies, burn all their whole village including food, raping woman, and if the woman is pregnant they cut them open to see if it’s a boy or a girl. Raping a woman is worse than being killed because once they are not a virgin anymore, they aren’t worth anything. The Janjaweed are doing exactly what the government wants them to do. The people in Darfur and even refuges in neighboring Chad are petrified of these devils on horseback. This genocide is happening right in front of our governments face, and what have they done?

sorry for posting so late didn’t know we had to post this
