Whether you’re a student of the craft or a closet writer, if you’ve got an awesome story to tell, we want to read it. And your fellow students want to know just how talented you are, too. So don’t be shy. We love submissions. We thrive on them. If we were stuck on a desert island and we could only bring five items, one of those would be our laptops so we can check our email account for your stories. The other four would be an odd assortment of David Bowie albums and orange Tic-Tacs.

And how could we forget our lovely artists? Without you, the world would be bleak; a blank canvas, void of color and substance and pretty pictures. So if you want your art featured in Stockpot, this is for you too!

Also, we are looking for an editorial staff. Anyone interested please email either Gretchen VanDyne or Joe Christopher @ gretch117@gmail.com or josephtchristopher@gmail.com

Anyhow, here are the guidelines:

Contributers:

All currently enrolled students and alumni of the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey may submit their writing and/or artwork.

Poetry Guidelines:

Please submit 1-3 poems. Poems should not exceed 45 lines in length and should be single-spaced in a standard 12 point font.

Fiction and Non-Fiction Guidelines:

Please submit 1-3 stories. Stories should not exceed 3,00 words and should be double-spaced in standard 12 point font.

Artwork Guidelines:

Please submit 1-5 pieces of artwork (photography, paintings, or drawings).

Deadline:

Friday, February 1, 2010. We encourage you to send your submissions as early as possible.

Send to:

All submissions should be emailed to StockpotJournal10@gmail.com. Writing should be sent as a Microsoft Word attachment, and artwork should be sent as a high resolution Tiff attachment. If you would like to submit a hard copy of your artwork for judging and printing purposes, please arrange this in your email.

Include a cover letter in the body of the email. This should include your full name, address, and phone number and the titles of the pieces being submitted and any questions you may have. Since the selection process is anonymous, do not include any personal information on the attached work itself. You will hear back from us in March of 2010. Thank you, and happy writing!

The school pool, which had developed a severe leak, was drained one final time. According to the highly paid planning team, it made sense not to repair the leak, but rather to convert the structure to a dance hall: the conversion would cost about a million dollars; repair of the pool would have cost about the same; the cost of an entirely new pool was closer to twenty million dollars. With jaded resignation, the swimmers on campus wondered about the aerobic benefits of dance.
