Meter & Form
At the end of class tonight I showed you two good texts on meter and form. The first is Paul Fussell’s oft-used Poetic Meter & Poetic Form. The second is John Hollander’s Rhyme’s Reason. I find Fussell’s work to be more in-depth and theoretical and Hollander’s work more approachable but slight.
The Fussell text is a bit pricier than I thought, with a few under $15 on www.abebooks.com and several used under $25 on Amazon. The Hollander, new, is under $10 on amazon with many well under that price. I guess that is the text I’d suggest if you wanted to purchase one.
