Oh boy! Vacation 2009 recap.
Preface: This post (as well as several following this) will retell, in a hopefully humorous manner, my recent cruise to Canada.

June 11, 2009
Location(s): Home, New York City
After doing all of the normal, last minute, make sure I packed everything stuff, it was off to pick up gf and then we were on our way. Due to some wonderful driving by a truck-driver, the main, and essentially only, road to the train station was stopped. Fortunately, my driver did some quick maneuvering and we still made it in a relatively quick fashion. Then began the somewhat Victorian part of the adventure, waiting for the train, and then the trip to Manhattan.
While on the train, my usually nervous traveling companion, my gf, posed the question, “What if we got on the wrong the train and this doesn’t go to Penn Station?” The answer then occurred to me, “Well the people there would ask where we were going, and then they would say ‘Hop on!’ and they would carry us on their back with our stuff all the way to New York.” This was laughed about for a while.
Arriving at the station brought with it two problems.
- Being hungry. But making it to the ship was more important, so we had to walk by all the wonderful places to eat in Penn Station.
- Needing a cab. The taxiway was closed so we had to walk to a different corner but soon enough acquired the services of a taxi to take us to the port.
We arrive at Pier 88 and checked our luggage. We then had to endure the arduous check-in process, which is simple enough, until you couple with it HUGE lines. But, we did endure and then made the final steps onto the Carnival Triumph!
