Annotated Bibliography

Baskett, Sam S. “Jack London’s Heart of Darkness.”  American Quarterly 10.1 (1958): 66-77.

This is an interesting article.  Baskett compares and contrasts the works of Jack London and Joseph Conrad.

Hartzell, David A.  The World Of Jack London.  2009.  6 June 2009.  www.jacklondon.net

This website is similar to The Jack London Online Collection.  What makes it better is that it’s updated constantly, keeping it current and always resourceful.

Perry, John.  Jack London – An American Myth.  Chicago: Nelson-Hall, 1981.

This heavily researched book examines London in great detail.  While doing research for the book, John Perry gathered as many magazine accounts, newspaper accounts, and reviews that he could find.  He also used letters and memoirs written by London and his family to try and understand who London was as a person.  This book is very helpful for anyone who is interested in where some of London’s ideas came from and who he was as an individual.

Reesman, Jeanne Campbell.  Jack London - A Study of the Short Fiction.  New York: Twayne Publishers, 1999.

This book gives very good critical analysis of London’s short fiction.  The information that Reesman presents about the short-story “Moon-Face,” in particular, is very helpful.

Tennant, Roy.  The Jack London Online Collection.  2005.  Sonoma State University.  25 July 2006.  http://london.sonoma.edu/

This website has it all.  Anything that anyone would want to know about Jack London can be found here.  It includes teaching resources, audio clips, and even documents of some of London’s most famous stories.
