There have been several questions regarding part (c) of Question 1. You are asked to find Delta U, q, and w for the composite process, not necessarily each individual part. You cannot find q for each part since you are not given enough information to do the calculation. However, if you can determine U and w, you can then find q for the composite (entire) process.

Model solutions for Exam 1 have been posted. Please take a look at them and come to class tomorrow with questions.

We will be meeting for a group discussion this week during lab. We’ll get together at 9 AM on Tuesday in the G-Wing cafeteria. I would like to talk with the entire class first and then I will meet with each group individually to discuss project planning.

The due date for Homework #4 has been moved to Wednesday, February 18.

Since we only have four groups this semester I have revised the lab schedule. It is posted in the “Laboratory” section of the blog. I will distribute hard copies in class on Friday. Please make sure you come to lab prepared to complete the appropriate experiment each week.

We will be meeting in the laboratory at 8:30 on January 20. See you there.

Materials for the spring semester have been uploaded onto the blog. The syllabus and additional information about the laboratory are available in the appropriate section of the site. More materials will be added as the semester begins.

Scores from Exam 3 and the final exam have been posted on Blackboard. I have submitted course grades to the registrar and they should be available on your transcript through the portal.
