About

This course blog is an online platform for the analysis of documentary video clips. The class discussion, beginning week two and occurring six times (once every other week), augments production assignments by making explicit the critical thinking implicit in documentary filmmaking.

Each production group is responsible for watching the clip and responding on the course blog. The analysis, including explanations with examples, is based on the following list of questions. Observations should result from multiple viewings. Depending on the video clip, not all questions are applicable. Groups are also required to thoughtfully respond to at least one other group’s analysis. The time frame for analysis and discussion is from 12 PM Tuesday to 12 PM Friday.
