Hi I’m Evelyn. When people ask me to describe myself, one of my first responses is that I am a self proclaimed animal rights activist. So, it wasn’t hard for me to decide what I wanted to blog about.

I’ve always loved animals, especially my dogs. In fact, I’ve never been alive without at least one pet as my constant companion.  By the way, that dog in the picture is my black lab Spiral. In my relatively short lifetime, I’ve rescued a wide variety of different animals, some of which include:  a baby mallard duck found in a water drain, a dirty chicken that was found running around the city, hundreds of just hatched diamond-back terrapins and even a pigeon that somehow got locked in my shed! I’ve gotten the reputation of an animal lover, so people in my neighborhood tend to bring lost/injured animals to me.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more aware of the issues concerning the conditions that some animals must live in, and the abuses they suffer through each and every day. I would venture to say that the average person has no clue that these issues even exist. I believe that if more people were aware of some of these abuses of animals, they would do something to help, or at least spread the word. Being a member of the Humane Society of the United States and an avid reader of the ASPCA website, I recieve magazines and email updates quite often on new cases and/or developments on old cases of animal rights abuses. In my blog, I will discuss some topics that you may have heard of and many that you have not.
